Evaluations

Evaluations (birth to 18 years)

If you are concerned that your child may be showing signs of difficulty with speech, language, swallowing, and/or food textures, it might be time for an evaluation.

Our comprehensive evaluation process combines standardized testing with objective diagnostic measurements to obtain a personalized therapy plan.  As a part of the evaluation process, we review the evaluation results and recommendations with you. We present you with a report detailing your child’s specific goals that we can all begin working towards.

Early intervention screening

Therapists at Sammamish Children’s Therapy specialize in early intervention (birth to three years) which can be critical in providing the support infants and toddlers need to meet their developmental speech and language milestones.  We can help you determine if a comprehensive evaluation is necessary for your child during our screening process.

How do I know if my child needs early intervention?

Early speech and language development can vary for infants and toddlers. Just because your child isn’t pronouncing words correctly or speaking as much as the child down the street doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a problem. If however, you feel your child isn’t meeting developmental milestones, it is best to consult your pediatrician and discuss your concerns with one of our therapists who can help evaluate your child’s needs.

Possible signs that your child may need an evaluation:

  • minimal speech sounds or words
  • not responding to speech or sounds in their environment
  • lack of progress in speech and language development from month to month
