Grant with an SCT Therapist

Can you describe your overall experience with SCT?

I cannot say enough great things about SCT to communicate how sincerely thankful I am to the whole office, and especially Anthony Roy for making G and I feel like real partners in his care. The office and therapists are expertly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, flexible, personable, and have always taken plenty of time to answer my questions and reassure me about G’s progress.

What specific conditions did your child need help with?

G’s intelligibility was measured at less than 20% when he was three years old. He was deleting initial and final sounds and could not form many sounds in the alphabet like s,f,p,l,r,g and t. G has been working on eliminating his phonological process errors over the last two years. The only sound he has left to master is r.

What were your expectations about speech and language therapy?

I had no idea what to expect- or if it would work.

What improvements has your child made since beginning therapy?

G graduated from his preschool intervention IEP with the school district last year before he started kindergarten. He entered kindergarten this year 100% intelligible. G is confident in expressing himself at home, at school, on the playground, and when interacting with unfamiliar children and adults.

Did you try other treatments, therapies, or speech therapists before coming to SCT?

We received speech-only therapy services through our school district once per week. These sessions were inconsistent, too short, and completely ineffective.

Would you recommend SCT to a friend whose child had a speech or language disorder?

Absolutely!
