Can you describe your overall experience with SCT?

I can’t imagine where Rowan would be now without SCT. At 3 years old, he didn’t talk at all, just various grunts. My mommy intuition was telling me something was wrong, despite the pediatrician saying “oh he’s a boy. He’s a twin. Just give it time.”

From our very first appointment, I felt like my concerns were heard and taken seriously. Rowan’s evaluation showed that he had Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Going into this, I had assumed speech therapy would be once a week (which is what we are at now) for maybe a couple of years. SCT has gone above and beyond in working as hard as Rowan would happily tolerate; changing appointment times, days, and lengths with great flexibility as his needs changed. He started at 4 times per week and within the first year he was speaking to where family could understand him. Now at 7 years old, he is talking everyone’s ear off at school.

Would you recommend SCT to a friend whose child had a speech or language disorder?

I would highly recommend SCT to anyone needing help with speech/language. Camille tailors Rowan’s sessions to his individual strengths (and has learned far more about superheroes than I think she would have expected). When Rowan developed a stutter, she immediately pivoted and helped us with new strategies. All in all, SCT and Camille are the reason Rowan can happily communicate with the world.
